What's Next?

So we're nearly done with The Quest. Only another couple of shoots left, the first being with Matt and myself in a couple of weeks. We thought we had finished Matt's scenes, which we kind of had. Matt went away to Asia and although it wasn't ideal, we had ways to work around with the stuff we had filmed. But now that he's back, the one positive from his unfortunate return to England so early is that we can finish his story properly.

In a month or so, I will hopefully be filming the final scenes with Mr G. Hopefully this will involve one final return to Maker / Mount Edgecombe to finish Marco & Dom's scenes, as well as get all the scenes for Prometheus finished. After that, all that is left is Sanchez's scenes. These will be easy to do, and very minimal. Shouldn't take more than an hour, which is splendid. Exciting stuff.

The thing is, after then I don't have much to do in terms of personal projects. I mean sure, the same weekend Matt and I film in a couple of weeks in Southampton, we are also breaking down and putting together a first rough draft of The Quest 4 (we are actually attempting a script before we film this time, as opposed to putting together a script towards the end of filming like with 2 & 3), but as that won't likely shoot until mid to late Summer, I need something in the mean time.

Without all the Quest 3 footage to edit whilst living in Southampton, I would have gone mental with nothing to do. Yes I love Zelda and that has given me something other than editing to do, but that game won't last for ever and I'm not in a computer game playing mood everyday. I'm a creative person, and there is only so long I can sit around doing leasurely activities before I yearn for something creative to sink into.

Also, constantly working on The Quest will do me no good, mentally. I absolutely need a break from it, so that when I do come back to work on it, it will be fresh and new again. I've learned a hell of a lot of useful skills working on The Quest, but I think now it's time to start putting them to use on other projects, maybe in a more professional manner.

So I'm going to work on a script for something entirely new and different. No wizards, no talking trees, no bears and perhaps no woods or forests (which would be a first). It needs to be something much more serious, even though it will still likely retain a certain stupidity (I cannot change what I am!)

Now I just need an idea.

  1. How about a serial killer mystery, with lots of horrible killings of random people and then the police investigation slowly finds a link between all the people. It could end in a seige but then the killer gets away for a new season. It's a bit cliche I know but could work with some whatev trev humour and a completely fresh approach to the art direction. I would like to play the part of a bent cop who is aiding the killer and misleading the investigation. I would also be the identical twin brother of the killer/the killer if I could audition for such dizzy heights. I'm thinking CSI meets The Bill meets Scream meets Wacky Races. Could be fun, in a serious way. Mr G xx

  2. I kinda like the idea of doing a CSI style show in a Whatev Trev way. I've never actually seen CSI, or many cop/detective style shows and I'll keep it that way to keep it fresh. I'm thinking a 3 parter. Also the detectives assigned to the case would be the most inept members of the Force, and are only assigned the case because the heads think that the outcome is so obvious that even these guys can solve the case. Obviously, they stumble across a bigger conspiracy. Get on Mr G. Keep the ideas coming.

  3. You do realise you're now the executive producer / creator of the show?
